Well it's not anime, and it's a few years old, but i'm reading Sankarea. It's got an anime adaption called Sankarea: Undying Love. It's about a boy who has an obsession with zombies, meets a girl, and through events she dies and he brings her back to life. It's a romantic comedy zombie manga/anime. ZomRomCom.

Dude..... don't ever compare MLP to anime. MLP is trash and it's fanbase is a disgrace to humanity. While anime on the other hand has some great stuff out there like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Death Note, Psycho-Pass, Fullmetal Alchemist, Darker than Black, Hellsing Ultimate, etc. The list goes on man.

There is a pretty big difference between shows that are considered anime and shows that are considered cartoons. From the mild to very gorey blood, the high violence, use of drugs, suggestive themes and even down to simple curse words make it what people call an animation. Cartoons are more geared towards children. With it's very mild violence. and that's pretty much all that gets slapped on most.
