Raising a giant stompy animal isn't the sort of 'raising' I meant. xD
And Rojimboo, I sort of want it to be on steam. x.x

Yes, I know you can raise pets in ArcheAge. Sorta not what I mean though.
I'm pretty sure that isn't on steam...
More of a "choose your adventure" storybook than monster raising game like Pokemon or Monster Rancher, but it's probably the only thing on Steam close to what you want.
No Spore! ;o; Spore is more like a monster Sims. I don't want that, v.v I want to be able to work for the upgrades, like adv. Science lab/magic lab for it. I don't want to play the monster, I want my own like, character who battles beside/mounts the monster in combat and adventures. ;o; Raising it is all good, but its not as fun if you can't put it to use!
To be honest, everything you're describing sounds like Pokemon and Spore.
Mabinogi has a pet system where you can play as your pets, and do dungeons with friends pets like you would in normal gameplay, they also age in real time and get bigger for each "year" which is a week in real time. But you can't customize them or anything, just change their colors.
