It's comedic and weird, not sure if it's kiddie, but I don't know your definition of kiddie.

Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty good, I would recomend;
Avatar
Independace day (if that really counts)
Silent Running
2001: A Space Odyssey
Wall-E
Galaxy quest
Elysium
The fifth Element
Total Recall
Spaceballs

And i have also heard Gravity is also pretty good in 3D

Suisei no Gargantai is good anime and it was made by same creator of Fate/Zero.

I can then recommend Alien, man. A horror film set in space. Very well made and good acting.

And make sure to watch the sequel, Aliens, as well. I'm sure you'll like them.

Oblivion?

Gravity was good for being a "pretty space" movie, but if you know anything about astrophysics or how things are supposed to work in anti-gravity, then you'll be mad through the whole movie.

2001: A Space Odyssey is super good though. And Littlefoot knows what's up with the Aliens franchise.
