I might wish to disagree here. There are a lot of older games that can not run on an x64 system or even run under NTFS format. I seem to remember a Star Trek game that had a tie in with some type of ship builder game. That game could only run on a FAT 32 format HD.

I know a lot of people who have built an old computer just to be able to play the older titles. Until recently, Final Fantasy VIII could not be played on a modern system (at least, I could not play it on my system - and I still have the original game with the pile of CD's)

There are reasons to build an old system up... But that is more so you can play those old titles that you use to love.

Try playing the original Sid Meier's Pirates on a morden PC. Most mordern PC's do not have 5 1/4 inch drives anymore. :D

i was going to sell some stuff to get parts for it.i have 17 diffrent desktops around the house
from the 80s? idk it has the 9' big flopys

Nah, there is a very apparent ebb and flow to the windows OS. This is true running back to ME and prior. XP was great, vista was garbage, win7 is great, windows 8 is a catastrophe. Should mean the next release (windows 10) should be relatively sound if the pattern serves.

Well you literally cannot even use the installer for WIndows 8 on an ME computer, let alone actually use it. You would have to replace the motherboard, CPU, hard drive, RAM, and graphics at the least. And likely the optical drive is obselete as well, and the USB ports would probably be 1.0 (the motherboard might fix that). And it's good practices to replace all of the cables when changing drives. Any remaining Windows ME hardware is probably not compatible with WIndows 8, with the exception of the power supply, mouse, and keyboard. By that I mean there will not be working drivers.

Which means in order to get a Windows 8 PC out of this, the only part you will be keeping is the case with the power supply. And if that's small already, you might have to replace the case as well. And a 15 year old power supply does not inspire confidence.

You're building a new PC, or you're living with only installing software from last millenium.

Edit: Assuming it's not an old AT power supply. Power supplies have come a bit of a long way in the last 20 years, and it's possible an old ME system could have an AT or an ATX, at that time there was a transition. And if it's under 300 Watts, replace it.

yes thats why in the discription i ask what case size it is so i can find out what mother board will fit in the case i want to rebuild it as much as i can(aford) but i will go the exstra mile even when i just dont know what im doing.i spent 3 days scrubing smoke stains out of the case and vacumed and washed out the inside.so time consumig isnt a problem.lol

the only thing that will be of any use is the case and I doubt it's functionality. Just buy a new case as well, save the headache.

I repair archaic computers all the time but I haven't seen anything with ME on it in a lot of years.

Fixed one a couple years back. It still ran decently, but it was horrible on the Internet. Putting an antivirus on it was like commiting murder.

lol no it clean now its bright white now it just must have been in a house with a lot of smokers it has never been opened ether so that adds up over time.

1. look if you can find a case thats just as havy or havyer as this case(i can berly pick it up
2. has a intake at the bottem
3. the paint dosnt come of easy(like this cases paint looks new and i srubed the holy crap out of it) the last 2 i buyed paint came off from scaching my finger nails when i missed the start butten .
4. isnt so fugly as new pc cases
5. power supply is at the top
6 .no intake from the side panels
(7. maybe with some case handles
8. some silver case feet) 7-8 i know can add those my self later but any case like this or better
to put it short i dont want a plain sqrare pc case.but any type of suggestins is helpful :)
