That would be a Compaq Presario series 5000. It is 100% obsolete. The risers in the case are compatible with so few motherboards that it's not worth using. The power supply only has a few molex connectors and an older standard motherboard connectors with no modern CPU support and no GPU support at all. In short, it is completely useless.
so basicly theres no bringing this case back from the dead?or is there a way to modify the inside of the case to make it compatbile with todays standards?or is it just not posible?(case has no paint damge cracks dents or rust idk if that matters or not but just wanted to let you know incase it does matter.)

I know it sounds harsh but the best use of that thing is to fill with cement and use as a boat anchor.

Or, recycle it.

I'm not sure that is how technology works. Pretty sure it would be even more irrelevant and obsolete in a few years...

what case size and motherboard size would be good for a gaming pc?
Keyboard Warrior (Grox3000) eredeti hozzászólása:
Size doesn't matter. Its all about what you put in it.

P.S. what made you think the OS was apart of the rig?
it was the only sticker on it
5wv280 5000 series was on the bottom of the case so i didnt see it right away.lol
As many have told you the same
That PC is not good for games
Win ME was sad
It ran very bad
And 128 RAM's a shame

Midsize...you don't really need anything mammoth but you don't want something too small because you actually have to fit the parts in there, unless you want to buy one of those mini motherboards.
The issue here's not worth debating
There's just little point in upgrading
A PC that old
Can't even be sold
And certainly useless for gaming.

The case size won't matter at all
It's the parts that count, you recall
Research the hardware
And take it from there
Doesn't matter if big or small.*

One thing still I must admit
Ensuring the pieces will fit
Is the case is too small
They won't fit at all
So buy a new case for all of it.

I might wish to disagree here. There are a lot of older games that can not run on an x64 system or even run under NTFS format. I seem to remember a Star Trek game that had a tie in with some type of ship builder game. That game could only run on a FAT 32 format HD.

I know a lot of people who have built an old computer just to be able to play the older titles. Until recently, Final Fantasy VIII could not be played on a modern system (at least, I could not play it on my system - and I still have the original game with the pile of CD's)

There are reasons to build an old system up... But that is more so you can play those old titles that you use to love.

Try playing the original Sid Meier's Pirates on a morden PC. Most mordern PC's do not have 5 1/4 inch drives anymore. :D
Though I get the raltionalization
Those games run in virtualization
Install Win 98
Usually run great
Vs a PC for dedication.

Miss Amanda Jones, couldn't you use an external drive and it'd work? Now I'm curious. Reminds me I need an external blu-ray drive.
