OT Forums Weekly Bible Study
Everyone,

Let's start a new OT forum series where we each read 3 chapters of the bible per week (you choose which translation you want to read) and discuss it here.

Everyone's first assignment, read Genesis chapters 1-3. I look forward to your comments and critiques! :steamhappy:

will there be cookies?
In the beginning the word was with God and the word was good.
The television reception however was not so much.

They can't all be The Word, Maverick.

In order to get a copyright, you have to change something sufficiently for it to be unique enough.

So scratch anything with a copyright if you want God's Word. You're getting Thomas Nelson Pubishing's Word, Zondervan's Word, and Lockman Foundation's Word. Or one of them, anyway, since all these publishers have several different translations with a copyright. And half of those have editorial politics inserted into the text, like Zondervan did years ago when they changed their NIV to remove gendered terms for God. I don't know if they changed it back or not, because I don't care to check.
Peter: Hmm... I thought that would be big news...
Brian: you thought WHAT would be big news?
...
Revelations is the only fun chapter.

I think they're all fun. More lore than any videogame or super hero franchise, by far. :amadeus_happy:

King James took his ball and went home to write his own version.
That takes some determination.

His determination was his drive to marry several wives.(Unless I have the wrong king in mind)

I prefer KJV, but still, I wouldn't be able to tell anyone what the most accurate translation is.

I know what the least accurate translations are, that I've studied, and avoid them.
KJV isn't bad, but don't be too hung up on the translation. Try to focus on the underlying message.
Do you think eden is in the persian gulf underwater after the ice age sea level rise
I think you should pick whatever translation you want, and then we can use Strong's Concordance to go to the original language and see what words mean, if it will aid in our understanding.
