Wolfenstein...
I remember back in the days when you could go out and only have to worry about acid rain and not micro plastic or inhaling copious amounts of brake dust.

In these days of joy there was a World War 2 Game called Wolfenstein.

I had little idea what it was about as I booted it up on the even then aged machine of a relative.

It turned out to be a really good First Person Shooter, and the difficulty level selector had me This is Gonna Rock mode switched on.

This is gonna Rock, is a phrase back in the days of the days of the abacus when things were still pretty neolithic and Rockin' was considered a way to primordial satisfaction.

So There is me feeling all limited as its me with a pistol in some castle versus lots of Nazis.
I kicked ass.
please do note kicking ass does not mean violence upon the creature known as an ass.

The game just got better and weirder and searching for secret doors became an obsession.

Then decades later I saw Wolfenstein on offer New World Order , and some other things of it.
They looked fantastic considering the original Wolfenstein was blocky and dossy.

I don't know which one I played but unlike Wolfenstein where I could fire it up and play now.
The new Wolfenstein bored me.
Immediately got 'weird' enemies not a build up to them.
Not a game breaker and I did like the climbing out of the pit type thing.

The combat just bored me, it was fun for a short while but I played Soldier of Fortune 2 skirmish missions far longer than 'modern' Wolfenstein.

So what do you think of Wolfenstein and is a true sequel in your opinion Medal of Honour : Underground to it?

I have no idea, one I played was climbing out a pit and there was a guard hooked up to the power like dodgems and that was as cool as....I don't know it was lame.

Got to some room with lots of equipment around and that shooty bit was cool but got boring.
And I lost interest shortly after that.

Maybe everybody else loves them but to me it's all seen it all before feel.
I would have been happy if they just released the original Wolfenstein and added a hundred more levels and just a touch more depth to it.

Dishonored way better to spend time on for the 2020s than remakes of Wolfenstein.

Of the original Wolfenstein.

I don't hate the remakes or seequels of modern times but they don't grab me now.
I heard the Wolfenstein franchise used to be banned in Germany up until 2018.

The original Wolfenstien, was pretty simple, shoot the guards and try to escape, there wasn't really anything beyond that, the last one I tried to The New Colossus was a joke in comparison, instead of just simply killing guards, and perhaps Hitler it tried to push a narrative where there really wasn't a need for one. Sometimes it is better just to focus on game play, particularly in a first person shooter.

Good to hear that. Hardly anyone remembers the original.

maybe not that original :steammocking:

It does look to have a nice charm to it though.

For me it's Enemy Territory, god do I miss waking up before school and spamming the "I'm a soldat" voice line and throwing grenades anywhere and everywhere.

Possibly my next adventure after Mordheim and Caravaneer 2.

Which Wolfenstein then are the people's favourite?
