Democracy is just choosing which wealthyman yells at you first
Funny thing about politics. People riot over which color tie is shouting at them while both sides quietly agree the rent goes up, the wages stay down, and the pothole on your street gets a fresh coat of thoughts and prayers.

We’ve spent milleniums upgrading from kings and queens…only to elect landlords in suits who bill us for breathing air.

Maybe the real progress was learning how to clap while we’re being robbed.

Democracy is good when the only people who can vote are your friends.

I don't want to live in a country where people who have nothing to do with me have a say.

In the past there were often times and places wherein the ruling class had the predispositions necessary to rule, now we are ruled by weaklings of low stock who send out their fat headed goons to quash any resistance.

But we dont have any true democracies.

What is, in your personal interpretation, a true democracy?

In a Democracy you at least have the choice and both sides compete with each other. Meanwhile dictatorship forces you to obey one side that robs you.
Either way, you’re still thirsty. it’s just a matter of whether you got to tick a box first.

Probably the one that only exists in philosophy textbooks and TED Talks. Out here in the wild, it’s just marketing with ballots

the good old days when your ‘betters’ decided whether you starved, fought in their war, or polished their silverware. Funny how every aristocrat loves hierarchy until the guillotine suddenly becomes the most democratic invention in town.

In this system you're just voting for whom will be your king or emperor, that's no democracy.
In a real democracy, the people keep on voting and having a say in things every step of the way, daily, holding the officials accountable about everything.
representative democracy often feels like picking which monarch wears the crown for a few years while the rest of us argue in the mud pit. Direct democracy sounds ideal, but daily votes on everything would turn society into an endless group project where half the class doesn’t read the instructions. At some point, people want dinner, not a referendum on what’s for dinner.

I just gave you a viable definition of Democracy, I dont care to discuss about direct or indirect or whatever. There's only one Democracy.

And that’s exactly my point when you start slicing democracy into flavors like ‘direct’ or ‘representative,’ you’ve already watered it down. There’s only democracy, the people steering the ship, or something else entirely. Call it what you like, but dressing up monarchy in a suit doesn’t magically make it democratic.

Concerted propaganda targets weak minds to propel despots into power. Once there, the veil is off but it's too late. The dictator doesn't need to be in smart, only ruthless. US is going down this road as did Germany did in the 30s. WW3 will be US / Russia against the world. Ironically China will be on the democracy side. The enemy in of my enemy is my friend, much like Russia was an ally in WW2. I never understood how history repeats itself.

Aristocracy means "the rule of the best", not "whoever was in power at the time". There were times when certain places and their populations were ruled over by an aristocracy in the full sense of the term, and times when crappy people ruled over someone, but the time which you just described never actually happened until global capital took over.

The scary part is how predictable the pattern is propaganda, polarization, power grabs. The only real question is whether people actually learn from the last stanza, or just hum along until the next verse.
