STOP KILLING GAMES
Are you pro corpo or pro consumer? Pro corpo is believing an ex blizzard employees lies(FICTIONAL EXAMPLE NOT TARGETING ANYBODY.) Pro consumer is fighting for consumer rights to preserve video games old or new that are getting deleted forever especially the ones that you paid for.

Middle ground my ass
We have decent consumer rights here but I think some US companies didn't get the memo because they still pull shady stunts and unless someone reports it, they get away with it.

Europe put up some rules concerning commerce with home appliances.

"To ensure that spare parts are available within a reasonable period of time and at an attractive price, rules impose on manufacturers that:

*Spare parts for refrigeration devices (refrigerators, freezers, wine cellars, etc.) must be available for 7 years after purchase.
*Spare parts must be available for 10 years after the purchase of washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers."

https://www.europe-consommateurs.eu/en/shopping-internet/spare-parts-and-repairs.html

That means that the manufacturer of these appliances is obligated by law to make spare parts for the next 7 / 10 years at the very least, or at least have such spare parts stored and available should the request arise. They can't make pump&dump products and then wash their hands off of them before moving on to the next product.

I think this should also apply to games. Every game developer should have a legally-binding minimum time period during which they are obligated to at least keep the servers going and/or not make any changes that make the game unplayable, lest the customers become entitled to get a refund regardless of the time played.

Where I'm from, they're putting subliminal messaging in games to make you think of naked men. It's happened to me in like 10 different games now so I've had to quit all of them

I'm straight btw

Which games? And why are you scared of thinking about naked men?

The new fake pro consumer mainstream sentiment reaches its boundaries when it comes to seriously criticizing and boycotting japsanese corpos. The aim is to destroy the western gaming industry but any other corpos seem to be ok with being anti consumer.

To the topic. No matter what you buy, it expires and decays over time. So even your physical media collection won't last forever it's same as delisting.

Iwould be nice if people stop using buzzwords as substitute, "pro-consumer" and "anti-consumer" merely mean "stuff I like" and "stuff I don't like".

I buy the games I enjoy, I don't care about the rest.
I think the issue is multifaceted. I don't like consumers being tricked or ripped off. But creators have rights too. This isn't a "middle-ground." This is an acknowledgement of facts.

Picture this. The game you bought and enjoy shuts down in 1 week and theres no refunds, no way to bring it back. Just let it happen and move on to the next game?
