The troops are instruments of violence, not the cause of it. The vast majority are regular people who give everything to the system and the least they deserve is to be looked after for the rest of their life, if they are lucky enough to still have one when their service ends.
Wishing there were no more soldiers does not mean you can't support the ones we have and accept that they are a necessity in this ridiculous world at the moment.
Violence doesn't "solve" anything, it either destroys it or makes it go away for a time and come back seeking revenge.

At the same time we cheap out on things like veteran's benefits and health care for when they get wounded, we vote for unlimited funds to military contractors...
