The only reason they supported it in the first place is some PR hire out of college had them believing it'd be more money, not less. Turned out they were wrong, and so most quit doing it.
In many countries there are smaller events I reckon and they are not super big public events across the country, but many one city or two..
All the corporate pride showcase is not for support, it has always been to up sales and get another "month" to promote stuff or get you buying even more stuff that you don´t need.
As you might have noticed, in regions where corporations rule (ie the US) they will just find something new to attach to it... (every day is some kind of special day or event over there)
Since pride does not equal more sales, but rather the opposite for them, they have not tuned it down and then hope the next stuff will explode sales... or atleast just give them a avarage day/month.
Where I am from nobody needs to talk about all the weird "LGBT+" focus, as most that could identify with that group have already had rights and been accepted here for a long long long time... we were among the first to support individuals being whatever they want... so I never see huge displays or demands for respect.. instead individuals just do their job, refrequent in public and are social like well.. everybody else... as its more organic..
I have always found it odd to have "months" of celebrations for various things, no matter what it is.. it feels soulless and unreal... "now its this focus, then this" it is like people that donate to some charity during a big yearly event and then act like they have saved the world from those 10 euro they donated.... then forgets about said issue and all the other issues around the world...
But again.. my main issue is all the "look at us, we demand this and that".... it comes off odd... like imagine if gamers started to do a gamers month for representation and then made a big parade with videogames and screamed "more respect for gamers" and demanded people understand videogame slang and such.... that would be extremely odd... (I am sure it might exist)
No.. lets just all have genuine respect for eachother and accept that we are all different. Don´t make special demands, just be friendly and others will be friendly towards you is my experience.
It is why I know so much off the top of my head and have already formed understandings of subjects.
Without the gay pride month and the opportunity for me to set a little bit of time to daily look something up about a person or something to do with it, I would not have known about Richard O Brian and his stance on gender (I suppose Rocky Horror was bit of a giveaway but sometimes i'm not so quick).
Alan Turing and what happened to him.
Really brought it to me how so many really petty barriers can ruin lives.
There are many more obviously but i dont want to keep doing walls of text.
