A good healthy rest can be a good thing.
America desperately needs more 3rd places. The concept is something other than work and home that are fun and social.
In today's climate, we need a whole lot more of such things.
Would give me more of a reason to get off my bum and do more gardening.
I can't believe people on OT think the young adult crowd is dead. They're all over the dance floor when I'm there. Same with downtown, they're everywhere.
It's just a subset of them that are lifeless, and they're always online talking to each other/making videos back and forth to each other that they really believe none of that is out there.
Then you got the emo folk who just like to bring everyone else down, too.
We've got plenty of those around OT.
Well done. Especially the fire and guitars part. Wonder how good you are at disc golf.
Last night I went to our Memorial Day event again and it was largely boring parents and kids, parents and kids, parents and kids. I thought that it was going to be a boring edition this time.
And then I struck up a long conversation(it seems to happen every year) with one of the (almost always older) security guards.
And then on the way out, for reasons too long to type out, I didn't leave right away and for a while I was just standing there.
Some of the kids were kinda rowdy in one of the sections and although some probably thought that was a bad thing- I saw it as the opposite. They were alive!
And then when standing there, some of them jumped on the hood of one of their vans and I thought that was cool. Then the driver walked up and asked me if I was OK and needed a ride.
I thanked him, we struck up a conversation and it was good and fun. Then they always see the camera and ask if I YT- and the answer is health has to come back before releasing anything because half performances aren't gonna cut it. I gotta have my full abilities all firing at maximum to truly go for it.
But again, these kids were ALIVE and I could just see them getting out n the world and becoming some real somebodies!
That warmed my heart.
Long term wise there must be a short of full overhaul of a lot of stuff, else say bye bye to humans (well anything on Earth really), and hello to automated robots & ASI taking care of anything alive and/or dead in Earth & beyond.
Hmmm, I wasn't aware of some of the Asian issues- but OK. That's possible.
Indirectly, in recent decades, the drop in 3rd places in America is hurting men more than women. The rise in lonely men with no prospects for friends and lovers is one of the issues of our day.
It also is leading to men being prone to falling victim to salesmen and demagogues who at least speak to men. Often times, it's in the worst ways and appeals to all the wrong things- but there are entire generations that badly need to leave the basement and rejoin humanity.
Because they were literally "game interrupted, please provide one micro-transaction to continue" paired with difficulty levels rigged to intentionally trigger the micro-transaction screen as often as possible.
Oh, and there's a whole demographic of people who don't do well with the loud noises and flashing lights (and sometimes competition) even though they are quite fond of video games.
If arcades weren't hurting before Nintendo Wii, they sure should have been afterwards.
That's quite ironic considering how much you seem to let fear of others control you, Wraithe.
Not that I'm in a much better position. As far as I'm aware, our primary social incompatibility is having two defense mechanisms that are directly opposite of each other.
The most knowledgeable people have access to LIBRARIES which by-definition, rely on others working together in order to accumulate and verify large compilations of knowledge.
Therefore, even the most knowledgeable people (maybe not wise or intelligent but knowledgeable) know that short of going back in cultural development by SIX THOUSAND YEARS[www.google.com], the best that anyone can do without making that compromise is to be provided the freedom to choose who it is that controls you.
Personally, I try to keep to a minimum : subscription services that have monthly or annual premiums, and loans / debts.
I try not to join anything, including workplaces, that I'm not ready to walk away from at the snap of a finger (or rather at the first sign of a danger that I know I can't reason against).
I avoid dancers, even though I want to be one, after learning that some of them will tell you how to move your body, and others will ruin your life.
I avoid police for similar reasons.
If I had my way, I'd be pampering a nice woman at her command, but I can no longer tell the difference between 🍎pples and ☢️pples, but I am aware of the existence of the latter and that these poison fruits will likely kill me instantly if I come in contact with them.
Perhaps I never could tell the difference and was just blissfully unaware of the danger.
