Roguelike games suck
Am I the only one who sees most roguelikes having no real content comparatively to other games that do well? A lot of roguelikes such as hades, dead cells, isaac, slay the spire all do really well on steam 92+% positive. Yet they have a main base, 5-10 levels and the same enemies, cards, weapons. You will be lucky if most runs in a roguelike even result in any gain.

Truly once you have played through the game you pretty much did it all. I can see roguelikes being actually good if your run was a little different everytime. But most of the time you are using the same things on the same things in the same place.

It does add some challenge to games but generally roguelike games are hard because its simply hard and there is 0 progression. Most of them for 100% require you to kill the last boss without taking damage or something stupid. And then some dumbos will play 1k hours just to do it. Yet 900 or more of those hours werent even on the hard part. You just repeat the same crap to get to the end to die.

I can see them being indie games and maybe around 80% making a couple hundred thousand dollars. But some garbage games like hades and slay the spire made millions yet the game really is a shell of content.

This is not to hate on other peoples games they like..but simply my opinion of why I cant understand how someone can really enjoy doing the same content over and over. Usually they are okay and then after like 10-30 hours I get super bored.

To each their own. Funny how humans are so similiar but have such a wide variety and difference of interest.

in a lotta way Ark:survival evolved feels like a roguelite

In that if you lose a boss fight, or dungeon, it feels like you just lost everything and need to start over again from scratch. You have stats, carry weight, gear with randoms stats via loot crates, etc.

I would say so. Its not as roguelike as others I said but hard to tell. Turn based tactics and roguelikes almost make sense more then others I feel. This game is my type of game..not sure im ready to drop 45 on it though.

Every map, you also need to build a new base. And some people play it lore accurate aka nothing from a prior map comes to another map. Each map is a fresh start besides your character.

I don't think Dead Cells really fits into your rant. While it use to be true there was a lack of levels and enemies there has been a lot of dlc that has added content. If we are talking about the base game then sure there is a lack of enemies and levels, but there is a ton of weapons and combos. The enjoyment comes from trying all different types of things and seeing what works. I never played the other ones on the list so I can't comment on those personally.

If we wanted to talk about bad roguelites I don't think Dead Cells would be on the list to be fair.
Well, I enjoy roguelites myself but can see why others would not. That said, even minor alterations in your build can make or break it. Speaking from experience with multiple roguelites. And while I do like the genre, I don't like every roguelite.

Fine, wait for it to go on sale. Give it a chance. It's not easy to beat without dying.
Respectfully disagree. Don't risk your rain with this guy.

Sure im incorrect that dead cells doesnt provide a variety of weapons, enemies and items. But I felt no progression on that game, so in that way it does qualify. Although was one of the funner ones to play. I think hades offers more progression at your base then others for example..but super repetitive.

Roguelikes do offer alot to people who enjoy playing with different builds. Just wish the games offered more progression overall. What about a game that uses progress as usual but chops the game into various roguelike places. Once you pass it though you unlock a new area.
