Beautiful Ugly Songs
Being the avid music lovers, I know you've experienced a song that sounded so good and then, once the lyrics popped in you found yourself saying, "Wait.. wtf did they just say??"

Here, I'd like to see your bad surprises or musical disappointments so we can all commiserate and wonder where it all went wrong for society.

Everything Stravinski is lovely and horrifyingly ugly at the same time.

Jeez, Guns.. I can see why you thought of that one.

I can't help but laugh. I've been familiar with Strav for years.. and the person who introduced me to his work would laugh too. I suppose that shows the variation in style preferences.

I'm trying to think of some other examples but I don't want to veer off into the territory that Guns went into bc there's quite a bit like that in that case and besides that, I would not categorize that as beautiful ugly songs per se. I don't know why either bc beautiful despair, the ugliness of such moments, I get it. I've been there before. Maybe that's why I wouldn't really place such songs here? The examples I gave were songs that I don't subscribe to in thought and in practice and for that, they are ugly to me. Perhaps as most things I'm thinking too hard on this.
It's just that the song is so melodic and the singing is beautiful but the juxtaposition of that vs the lyrics really makes the song memorable to me. It's beautiful but so devastating at the same time if you pay attention to the lyrics.

I can remove it if you find it's not right for your thread, don't mean to offend anyone.

Edit add - well I'm just going to delete it, last time I posted something I thought was iffy and left it I ate a ban.

No no, please don't. I am certainly not offended here. I completely understood why you thought of it. If that is what you thought of when reading the OP then that is what you thought. Does not make it right or wrong. I appreciate a different perspective.

There are people in the forums that look for stuff to be offended by and I have been burned by such actors in the past.

I do apologize and am familiar enough with your posts that I feel you are open minded enough and respectable. But in terms of general public use I don't want to get in trouble for anything.

Cheers:handshake:

I'm sorry but the lyrics are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird I can't help but giggle when I listen to it uwu
Ok, I'm taking a sidetrack here. Just because at first when I saw your thread, it immediately made me think about King Diamond and especially this:

ps. the song is scary :pp2evil:, so don't listen that in a fragile state of mind

But anyhoo, for the thread for real now.

🤔 I think, the one what gave me that wtf? What the f... I just heard?... was def:

However, I wasn't disappointed. That was the day I fell in love with SOAD. They made me think.

german, most offensive title, the tale of a mysogynist who is desperate for some true love... sort of

but as Mr. Guns said... I better not post that... PM me if you really want it

dunno if that qualifies:

Oh, and I just want to share this to you Breathe. A little detail concerning the already well discussed relationship and its end.

When we still were together, a movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice came, and we planned to go watch it together with my ex. We never went.

After the break-up, I was having a lone weekend and decided to watch a movie. Of course this was my obvious choice. And this, this amazing scene... I was laughing and tearing. So absolutely wonderful beautiful analogy and the song... I had not heard it in a long long time and when I heard the lyrics and understood again what it was about :eagletear: I was crying like a baby.

Now both, the movie and the song are my favorites. They hold a special place in my heart :healthvial:

I understand. I reread what I posted and I was hoping it had not come out in a way that was admonishing. I actually really appreciate the different take. That's the beauty when asking questions of this nature about art itself; it can be so up to interpretation.
