Would you rather buy a gun or a well equipped tool cabinet to make a living?
Let's assume you had 1000 euros or dollars. Would you buy a gun or a well-equipped tool cabinet for the money to make a living? What do you think will amortize better in the long run?

how would i be able to be making a living with a gun exactly?

tools are probably far easier to be making a living with.

Unless I was working as a game keeper the gun is pointless, so clearly would rather the well equipped tool cabinet (though since I work in IT, would rather just buy more computers/parts).

I would pick the tool cabinet as it has more purpose to me. I have no use for a gun since I live in Australia.
Tools.

zero need for a firearm.

A gun without bullets is as useless as a tool cabinet without tools.

it depends...

Game keeper and Professional Hunter are absolute dream jobs, but I can't think of much else to turn a gun into added value.

$1000 will not give you a well equipped tool cabinet. Just a decent battery operated circular saw is $450, impact drill $300, portable table saw $1500. Even 1000 Euros wouldn't do it. You need at least $6000 of tools to be a journeyman carpenter these days. Another $12,000 of tools, between fall arrest gear and scaffolding, if you want to work at heights on the exterior of buildings - where the real money is,

Sure you can find cheaper stuff, but it will fall apart before you finish working on 1 apartment building. Then you'll end up spending even more on tools, and lose jobs. Could rent tools too, but if you're in that situation; you probably aren't going to work fast enough to make them pay for themselves.

$1000 will buy you a nice shotgun, a few boxes of shells, and a cleaning kit though. Can get all sorts of things once you have a shotgun.

The figure was only an example. There are jobs where you can make something with 1000 euros / dollar of tools to create value. But of course there are hardly any upper limits. "The tool makes the master." ,-)

so... the gun sounds more like your kind of making a living. and as said, you can afford it.

keeping and killing game, thats an odd combo. maybe you need to make another choice, before choosing where to invest the thousand bucks.

I would choose the well-equipped tool cabinet. The chances are simply better.

Good choice, because then you'll have both, and the people who chose tools would have nothing.

By robbing people on the street at gunpoint as a criminal :salamander_silly:.
