Can you just torrent food for free?

It technically exists (aka. farming: harvesting crops, tend to the chickens for meat and eggs, milking cows, planting seeds, etc.) but you need to either live next to a farm (for easier access) or be a farmer yourself (but everything associated with that is NOT free as it still costs money) since eggs are overpriced, you can just get yourself a hen and hope there are enough eggs.

What about meat? Unless you live and own in a ranch nearby an abattoir where you have heaps of cows to slaughter for beef or steak then "torrenting" that isn't possible as "clean meat" is locked behind a paywall in a butcher. Groceries are NOT cheap since everything adds up, so it is not free of charge ("torrent" vegetables by growing your own garden but still costs money).

If you crave for seafood: grab some from the ocean (if you reside near a port or beach town) instead of paying for that at a store or supermarket. even with "torrenting" seafood still costs money as you need the resources to catch fish, shrimp, etc. just put "cheap" string and use a tree branch as a fishing rod and shape wire as a hook (real fishing rods and hook cost money).

If you want bread: you have to learn how to convert wheat into actual flour to create bread. Even with all the technology available, the skillset for a human to use and maintain it should still be considered. Instead of paying for gas: use cooking oil as fuel or alcoholic beverages as an alternative but be careful since that can damage the engine due to it being incompatible.

You can visit a food bank depending on handouts or donations from other people (if applicable) rather than going to a grocery store paying money for "fresher" or premium groceries, but that can be a hit or miss (again that depends on what the package itself contains) since it may have the stuff you like but at times have stuff that is deemed crap or bad quality.

A shipping container can be modified into a hydroponic farm that can feed roughly 5 people.

No meat, obviously, but still not bad all considering space-to-food ratio.

As I love seafood like lobster and crab, I'm not particularly bothered by the idea of eating bugs for protein. They can't taste THAT different from crab/shrimp/lobster/etc. Especially if fried in enough garlic butter.
