I'll just say it in this thread, too:

And again, as a matter or perspective, it's the added cost of a McDonald's number 9 large, per game, as a point of contention we're talking about here. For a game that will provide a hundred or more hours of enjoyment. Or a thousand in many cases.

I guess if you're buying 30 AAA games a year it adds up, but how many AAA games per year are most Switch users going to buy? Enough to boycott the company for the added cost of two packs of smokes?
I think the Switch 2 is 450 U$D. So buying around 6 Switch 2 games at 80 U$D, means you essentially bought another Switch 2 price wise afaik. If gone unchecked, AAA Publishers will easily push games prices upwards to 200 U$D, before the 2030's. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Games are already being pushed over 100 dollars. Look how many people buy collectors editions, ultimate edition, founder's edition, limited edition, season pass. These frequently sell. Without some of these options you don't even get the full game. 60 dollars is the entry to play the beginning of the game. If you want the middle and end you have to buy the season passes. So add up all the dlcs and season passes and you are already close to $200 in the current market.

Only if people actually buy them at those prices. Gamers ultimately make the prices, and if the games don't sell, they'll backpedal the inflated costs.
Agreed ! Yes hopefully enough people will ignore the inflated prices. So Publishers & CEO's can take down a notch their greed.

They already are, essentially. Ever seen the price for a "complete" modern 4X game? Many of those games can cost upwards of $1000 bucks with all the DLC. Or Sims games. Or city builders. Or Pinball FX. Or heck, Borderlands games. I've spent more than the cost of my PC, all told, on Borderlands games and DLC. Because they're not complete without all the expansion packs, in my mind.

Which is why I don't even dabble in 4X games any more, or city builders.
Paradox games with all their very greedy DLC's prices is just competing with EA as to whom can lure in more whales. Overall if taking into account all the DLC's & MTX's shenanigans yes in paper many games have easily broke way beyond the 200 U$D mark. Albeit thankfully it's not an universal standard across the whole AAA & AA publishers industry, so there's still some time left to vote with our wallets & talk about it, thus slowly making it a topic in the gaming overton window.

Yes, albeit i hope the regular "just purchase the game, ignore MTX's unless it's an expansion type of deal" crowd is the majority market share wise, and not the "consume for the sake of consumption" folks :steamsad:

Who wants to work a 10 hour shift to buy a game(Minimum wage is 7.25 for federal and average is 10 an hour in poor areas) when you can buy a pack of smokes for not even 1 hour of work? Make it make sense, Games used to be affordable for the common man now its easier to just be a drug addict. Also you are ASSUMING the value of a game based on Hours the common gamer doesnt play a game for hundreds of hours, They usually play 10-15 hours(unless coop or rpg) and if its not finished they drop it

I picked up Pinball FX over time. I paid over $100, but over a year or two.

I don't mind spending $40 for a "base" fighting game and "upgrading" it with season passes, on sale, annually.

Street Fighter V with all the content was $70 for me over 3 or 4 years.

That's different than buying a vanilla/base game for $90.

For AAA Switch 2 games, yes. $80 for the digital version has been confirmed. It is basically Nintendo making that decision and asking all gamers (and those who support us), what are you going to do about it?

People will buy it anyways, I sure will do.

Nintendo games at least hardly lose any value over time, some even gain value, like "Super Mario Allstars 3D".

See it as investment.

Too expensive…
for the broke.

when the 3ds came out it cost $249, sales were not as good as expected and after 5 months they lowered the price to $169. With the failure of the wiiu they were not so quick to lower the price or give compensation to people who bought the console at the original price (to the first buyers of the 3ds Nintendo launched the “Ambassador Program”, offering 20 free NES and GBA games in the eShop).
If it's a flop, 100% we will see some change in the sale, we should just suck it up and use pictochat together :armycommander:

It's crazy to think that Nintendo $60 games are considered "Discounted" now which is insane lol
Electric Cupcake 3 ABR a las 5:26 a. m.
Nintendo should have ensured backwards compatibility, or at least allowed transferring downloaded games across hardware generations.

After the Wii-U, I will never give them another cent. Hang, boys, hang.
