When you make big bucks as a streamer but Nintendo's greed is still too much.

Where are you going? This ain't a Nintendo forum. Don't tell me you're abandoning Steam for Nintendo because they're charging more.
yknow what else is crucial to a 'tendo 'moids life and is actually quite cheap? soylent, go get some soylent

I wish I made big bucks but even though if I was rich

I still think its not fair for majority of the video game consumers

Play games you already own I say.

Yeah, it's a bit much for sure. But at the rate that it takes for games to be developed, I feel like most people will only have a handful of games for each console. I mean, I know my switch library is probably on the smaller side. It's crazy to me because it seems the average console generation is 8 years, but video games take 13 years to develop.

good, grown men should not be playing nintendo games and go do construction labor instead

I grew up on Nintendo, but as I've aged I've realized just how temporary console games are. The Switch can only play Switch games, save for a limited selection of legacy titles you can pay a recurring subscription fee to rent access to. I think I've paid for the original Legend of Zelda 5 times since it's release on the NES. (Let's see, NES, GBA, Wii virtual console, 3ds virtual console, NES classic edition... yeah, 5 times.) I still can't play it legitimately on modern hardware without paying more just for the privilege.

Meanwhile, my PC can play just about the entire 40+ year back catalog of PC games with a bit of fiddling for some of the older titles. (PC sometimes needs some fiddling and troubleshooting. Just a fact of life. Doesn't bother me.) In fact, I can play 40+ years worth of console games on my PC if I want to. Steam Deck included, if I want it portable.

A general rule of thumb can be that it takes 3 years to make a game, maybe yours is a typo. Of course some games like Cyberpunk 2077 were worked on for 8 years. Four before launch and four after.

The games they announced arent even that interesting, Show me new IP's not Mario Kart 100 and a cash Cow fromsoft game, If PS5 is anything to go off, Switch 2 wont have any games either lets make these final years of the decade be the end of these MegaCorps

I'll just say it in this thread, too:

And again, as a matter or perspective, it's the added cost of a McDonald's number 9 large, per game, as a point of contention we're talking about here. For a game that will provide a hundred or more hours of enjoyment. Or a thousand in many cases.

I guess if you're buying 30 AAA games a year it adds up, but how many AAA games per year are most Switch users going to buy? Enough to boycott the company for the added cost of two packs of smokes?

I think the Switch 2 is 450 U$D. So buying around 6 Switch 2 games at 80 U$D, means you essentially bought another Switch 2 price wise afaik. If gone unchecked, AAA Publishers will easily push games prices upwards to 200 U$D, before the 2030's. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Only if people actually buy them at those prices. Gamers ultimately make the prices, and if the games don't sell, they'll backpedal the inflated costs.

They already are, essentially. Ever seen the price for a "complete" modern 4X game? Many of those games can cost upwards of $1000 bucks with all the DLC. Or Sims games. Or city builders. Or Pinball FX. Or heck, Borderlands games. I've spent more than the cost of my PC, all told, on Borderlands games and DLC. Because they're not complete without all the expansion packs, in my mind.

Which is why I don't even dabble in 4X games any more, or city builders.
