Why do so many drag queens want to read to kids?

There is an entire organization set up now to promote drag reading shows for kids around the U.S. I have never gotten a good answer to this, but why? Why this fixation on reading to kids?

I don't see drag queens pushing other literacy initiatives, like reading to seniors or inmates. And I don't see any other types of organized drag community services, like helping at soup kitchens. It seems that their sole focus is about organizing large groups of children for reading events. Can anyone give a genuine answer as to why they are so interested in this?

because they are attempting to show that they are just normal people like anyone else. they are trying to show children that it is okay how adults wish to be dressing, and that it is not abnormal. they are trying to teach these children to be accepting of peoples who are different from them at a young age, the same way one might do in school by teaching children to be kind to others regardless of their skin colour.

Same reason why cartoons are all about inclusion and "empathy", how vampires and werewolves are your friends and just misunderstood, Beauty and the Beast, etc. They want to disarm the natural threat detection systems in their future prey (or opposition) so the predator (or deviant, aberration) can move freely.

Not quite. Beauty and the Beast has several layers. At the most basic it's a psychological allegory, the castle is part of the mind, and all the characters and objects of power (such as the rose) are parts of the same person, one mind. You've already fallen into the trap. You don't need to trust either of them. The framing of your response was adversarial and meant to get people fighting about either or. A real "well the alternative / you / they are no better, maybe worse, how bout that!?" Totally irrelevant though.
