USA under Bush Jr. was an international embarrassment after 911.
Bush didn't wait to invalid Bin Laden's country, Saudi Arabia, because the Bush family has deep oil business ties with both Saudis and Bin Laden family. So Bush launched "War of Terror" and invaded Iraq to make it look like something was being done about 911 terrorists. Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
George Bush Snr had breakfast with Bin Laden's brother on morning of 911.
Bush knew the attack was coming but was too stupid to do anything to stop it, but also didn't want to spoil his businesses partnership with the Bin Laden family as they have a stake in American oil.
Not for the reason that were used but it doesn’t change the fact that Saddam was a dictator who inflicted untold hardship on his own people and committed atrocities and crimes on a daily basis.
Not to mention that small stint of international warmongering in Kuwait.
It should have had nothing to do with 9/11 and the war on terror but it should have happened regardless
No, is the short answer.
Americans did the job, in this case, as the number one military nation of the world, American had to do the job, if they weren't number one military, then some other nation will do the job.
the whole world of people couldn't wait on Iraq people themselves figure out a way so its oil can be distributed orderly around those in need. Iraq will take age to figure out about distribution, the world couldn't wait on it,
Saddam ,he probably sees the oil as treasure and opportunity for his people and nation, for a big nation maybe, for Iraq, and the world of people in hunger, not the case.
Saddam's regime, was quite a nasty regime, they even used chemical warfare in genocide on their own people, and while the outcome of the war resulted in many deaths for the Iraq people, I do think the removal of Saddam and his regime was good for Iraq and the region.
If you are asking was it the correct thing to do, maybe not, war and death is never a good solution.
No, america will not be held accountable.
