Do people still do raves?
Or is that a thing of the past? I haven't heard about them since the 90's or so.

I hope not.

They were a fad, like black metal.

Don't know if anyone calls them "raves," but there are still drug-fueled DJ parties.
Still a staple in Scottish, and presumably British culture. Mostly gathering dens for cocaine fiends.
People still do raves. Have you heard of “Silent Raves”? It’s when everyone wear headphones and jam to the music. It looks awkward if you’re not wearing headphones tho.

Not like they were. Now they are "festivals" and its all about what youre on.

It is a disgusting drug scene with no love for the music whatsoever.

raves, party, celebration. all of this is just gatherings of worshipers to the ink, they seek to offer their soma to the moon in return for a place in the oceans of ink. but they are wrong, the ink is always a lie. no matter how much they try and dance, no matter how much they sweat and laugh. the ink will just reduce them to ink.

I think we'll just cut you off now. You seem to have partaken in too much raving.

I live in Germany, here it clearly is still a thing. The biggest rave party is usually in the parlament in Berlin on daily basis.

We just call it "clubbing" here.
i mean technically yes.

realistically, no.
Real ones? And I mean the illegal ones in some broken down warehouse what just pop up on telephone pole posters like 3 hours before the event? Nah, not anymore.

There are some clubs with Rave Night, but I don't think actual Raves still exist. Not in the USA, anyway. That was a moment that's gone.

realistically when a record executive constructed a managed band whose sole purpose was to exploit sampling to make empty remixes with zero effort (the KLF) rave was dead. rave remixes were illegal, the klf was legal. qed. put on your sunglasses boys; time to write 'eat sleep rave repeat' the song.

lords of acid remake 'what time is love' (post-ironically titled 'Take Control') is digging the corpse up and blowing all its teeth out with a sawed-off to deflect forensic examination.
