I miss singleplayer tactical shooters
I am playing through the og Delta Force from 1998, 27 years ago. A relic from another era. It's just... fun.

It feels like every tactical shooter nowadays is multiplayer focused. Either a sweaty Tarkov clone or a running simulator Squad clone. With non functional netcode that results in mag dumping. Rampant cheating. Brain dead or terminator AI with no in between. Absolutely TERRIBLE performance every single time. No campaign with scripted AI.

At least Arma 3 does its own thing with the military sandbox. When playing it feels like the whole game is barely holding it together with used chewing gum and prayers. Somehow Delta Force from 1998 feels less janky than Arma 3.

Yeah, I know. Ready or Not exists. An exception to the multiplayer rule.

wut? I can't think of any singleplayer tactical shooter where you get grenade spammed by the AI. Which one was that?

You can play Ready Or Not as Singleplayer, although it is fun to play with friends. It's very similar to the original SWAT 4 that inspired it. Try it out!

It's a better game.

I didn't like DOOM, Quake nor Quake 2 much, and Counter Strike 1.0 was just too cartoony.

The DF series took tactical shooters seriously. DF1 and DF2 are some of the best shooters ever made.

I'm just sorry hacking got rampant in the Joint Operations' games.

try its multiplayer and i didnt play it since a long time. But probably its still worth a try
i had df2. good gaem.
yes I remember this game, with infrared vision and ambushing a truck full of soldiers with a claymore mine.
and that all the vague memories of this game I have left of almost 30 years ago

I played it last year for the first time and I had so much fun :selphinehappy:.

I particularly like the first 4 parts of the Delta Force series (DF1, DF2, DFLW & DFTFD). Luckily you can still get them here on Steam!

Delta Force Land Warrior was my first "shooter" back then.

Battlefield 3 in the PvP Metro map was a total grenade and anything explosive related spam fest. Other than that i don't recall any tactical shooter with nade spam :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Zero Hour and Ground Branch are multiplayer focused. They are designed to be played with other people, unlike Delta Force. The friendly AI is either non existent or useless. They don't have the AI of something like SWAT 4 or Rainbow Six 3.

I haven't checked on Black One Blood Brothers in a long time. No idea how the AI is.

Aye fair point in regards to the PvP focus of Ground Branch and Zero Hour, as per Black One Blood Brothers i've read that the AI more or less did improve overtime.
