Is TikTok harmful or beneficial?

It's as harmful and/or beneficial as any other social media. Tik tok really isn't that special in that sense. It's the parenting that makes the difference.

Depends on the content.

I wouldn't be worried too much about a child watching Tiktoks, so long they are watching talent, etc. A parent should still supervise their child much like any other social media platform.

However, TikTok itself in America has more American employees and even American servers, with better transparency and privacy than even most American social media platforms. I would suggest it over Facebook and specially toxic xTwitter, etc.

Note that:

- It can be addictive and lead to doom-scrolling if not limited

- There's dangerous areas and also cyberbullying, but actually less than other social media platforms such as xTwitter

- It can teach new skills and talents, so long you are actually looking for that

- It can increase a person's awareness

TikTok is no more a threat than American-owned social media, which are even more likely to collect and sell your data.

If one thinks that tiktok is harmful, then one could also say that any human interaction is harmful. Same goes for it being beneficial.
