Suicidal ideation: how to cope?
if you have such ideas seek help

Originally posted by Suicidal Ideation: Harmer et al.:
Suicidal ideation refers to thinking about or formulating plans for suicide. The ideation exists on a spectrum of intensity, beginning with a general desire to die that lacks any concrete method, plan, intention, or action and progressing to active suicidal ideation, which involves a detailed plan and a determined intent to act on the ideas. Suicidal ideation is closely associated with both suicidal attempts and deaths, serving as a significant risk factor for future suicide attempts. Suicidal thoughts and actions are often viewed as a single concept, whereas passive thinking, active planning, and actual behavior are seen as a continuous spectrum. Research indicates that some individuals attempt suicide without prior suicidal ideation, though this is debated due to potential underreporting post-attempt due to stigma. A helpful analogy is to view suicidal ideation as the more significant, unseen portion of an iceberg, with the act of suicide as the visible tip. This perspective emphasizes the need for early identification and targeted intervention of those with suicidal ideation to prevent progression to suicide.

Thank you. It was a long time ago, which proves to me that it was a permanent fix.

My message to anyone currently struggling with this problem, is that it can get better.

My psychiatrist explained that individuals with such tendencies typically act on their urges without vocalizing them. Therefore, when someone frequently claims they will act on such impulses, it's often more about seeking attention than intent to follow through.

That's not what spectrum means. From black to white is not a spectrum, it's a gradient. Idk why everyone gets this wrong. Oh I do, because they are idiots.

Sorry bud, but suicidal ideation is neither a spectrum OR a gradient. It's a vector space. Better luck next time.

It literally means from black to white.

"A spectrum (pl.: spectra or spectrums)[1] is a condition that is not limited to a specific set of values but can vary, without gaps, across a continuum. The word spectrum was first used scientifically in optics to describe the rainbow of colors in visible light after passing through a prism. As scientific understanding of light advanced, it came to apply to the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It thereby became a mapping of a range of magnitudes (wavelengths) to a range of qualities, which are the perceived "colors of the rainbow" and other properties which correspond to wavelengths that lie outside of the visible light spectrum. "

Aren't those two-dimensional? So one dimension is the likelihood of committing sudoku, and the other?

I'll be honest now - I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to use math to model or approximate the person's desire to kick the bucket at any given moment. Some people would love to (and do) try though.

It's best to see a health professional. Even a phone call to 1800-suicide can help.

No it isn't, those people are idiots. I'll trust them to fix my leg when it is broken but not on the psyche. It's quite likely they just will ♥♥♥♥ you up even more.

I was depressed and suicidal for four years. Often thought about it, made two attempts.
What fixed it for me was the Power of Selfishness.

I am not joking.
