why do neurotypicals think having consistent interests is a sign of ulterior motives?

That is what the definition uses to define the word egotistical, hence why I said calling someone that is nasty and people will assume you are just making posts to argue
Because that is the point.

Why assume that the point is to argue? That's not a productive perspective at all

I have said it already twice but I will say it again, because you are associating neurotypical people with bad traits/actions as if it is true for all of them

I can say all humans have two legs and be wrong because sometimes humans are born with three, should I stop and include that detail every time I want to discuss the topic of bipeds and humans? Or is that not worth the effort?

and you would be wrong

Well, when I argue I do it for the purpose of trying to figure something out. For you it's apparently for something less productive.

The vast majority of people DO have 2 legs, the vast majority of neurotypical people are NOT egotisitical, those are not comparable especially since saying "people have 2 legs" is not offensive

At this point I am starting to agree :(( I do not know why they are not understanding what I am saying otherwise

Ok, next time I can try reframing my question as "functioning from ego" because that more closely reflects the difference I see in autistic and non-autiatic people. It's not necessarily arrogance, just a perspective that makes people more vulnerable to feeling insulted and responding with hostility.

What do you mean by "functioning from ego". Also don't forget neurodivergent does not just mean autism

I would say they don't, people just tend to look for confirmation of things they already think to be true.

i.e. they already decided it, posting more just makes them more sure of it. The number of posts in itself isn't what led to the thought.

Which is why I used the word autism and not neurodivergent.

And I use the term functioning from ego to mean functioning from a personal perspective where you have an existential stake in things related to you. Trying to separate it from the term "egotistical" which apparently is just a misuse of the concept. So it only refers to the negative aspects of having an ego.

Yes but when talking and grouping neurotypical people and not even specifying who you are comparing them to of course I just assume neurodivergency. What do you mean by existential stake, never heard that before

I'm just trying to use descriptive words as they were intended to be used. I'm not trying to pose these terms as official concepts or anything.

I am contrasting neurotypicals with autistic people, yes.
