"Wet" Timing Belts: A Ticking Time Bomb That Can Destroy Your Engine
Here's a good video about this terrible "feature" that some modern engines (like the notorious EcoBoom) has that leads to premature, catastrophic engine destruction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SASSFjIt5I

If your engine has a wet belt, make sure to never miss a service interval, use only the absolutely correct oil for your engine, and change your timing belt regularly, even more often than recommended to be safe.

Most likely, a "Wet Belt" engine is also going to also be an interference design, which means if your timing belt breaks or the teeth strip off your piston will strike your valves, causing catastrophic damage. In addition, the belt will deteriorate, shedding particles that can clog up the oil pickup, causing gradual damage to your engine as it gets starved of its oil supply, so be sure to regularly clean the oil pickup too.

I thought all the manufacturers were using permanent timing chains now.
yeah, I know ford went crazy for a while with this concept in their ecoboost 1 liter or 1.2 liter engines, and now I can see the second hand market is full of cars on sale that nobody buys, because in reality nobody wants to drive a car with a medium trim, no engine power and a wet belt. Each week they drop 500$ on the price and they end up selling like cars from 2002 :)
