Do you like your culture's food? Cause I don't.

I'm Filipino - American and I find a good portion of filipino foods to be... bland or bad. The only reason why some people that claim to "like" filipino food is that they eat a heavily modified version of them in different restaurants or whoever was cooking them made it different. Either by adding more spices or flavor. The kind of Filipino foods that I ate growing up were always either bland or too salty. They were always made to be "basic" and easy to cook and accessible. Not some fancy looking dish that came from 3 star restaurant. I especially get annoyed when I'm told I'm a "fake" Filipino from other Filipino Americans when they dont even eat Filipino food everyday compared to when I was a kid. And believe me, you will get CRAZY eating the same thing everyday.

If I had a choice, I would rather eat mediterannean food everyday.

A lot of variety. And regional variety on some dishes depending where you are. Pretty much everything has meat, organs or dairy products. Not vegan friendly.

Yeah mostly, my family is English so it's all pretty basic food but it's fine. Knowing Filipino cuisine though I'm not surprised you don't like it, a lot of the menu items are very, very... I guess I'll just say polarising and have that "you have to have grown up eating this to be able to enjoy it" thing going on, like you aren't going to try balut or fried chicken feet for the first time as a 25 year old and enjoy it. Even the less polarising items are like you said very bland, and involve a lot of unflavoured rice and leathery banana leaves.

UK has a lot of signature dishes that are considered completely British by the rest of the world, some of them are really tasty when prepared properly and in the right amounts.

if you aren't experiencing the right type of taste or value, they aren't given the correct amounts, put together and made correctly. these types of food dishes need to hit the right notes on what they are best know or most famous for.

I literally roll my eyes when I have some Filipino Americans say they love Filipino food but then they add a bunch of fking fancy spices or whatever. And I’m like “dude I didn’t even had that option as a kid.” Or what’s worse, they only eat the mainstream food. Whenever I mention something like “Kare Kare” or “Laing” they have no idea wtf I’m talking about. It’s incredibly annoying seeing them claiming to love their own ethnicity’s food when they themselves never grew up eating half the things I ate.

Yes I do. My food is fairly simple. Since my family is multicultural we basically bend everything together into 1 kabob. What I’m eating now this Christmas is roasted duck, rice, bamboo, pork belly, and cabbage.

Ehh.... I like some dishes here and there. Nasi lemak can be great on occasion. But a good majority of the dishes like laksa, rendang, so on... they just do NOT tickle my fancy.

The less white the nation the tastier the food. Americans and Brits are the whitest crackers around and their food ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Similarly Northern Europeans basically fit the Aryan ideal beauty standards with how white they are yet eat culinary atrocities like rotten fish and pickled everything. I'm from Balkan region and the food here is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing.
