I'll attempt to actually answer the OP. Thanks for an interesting topic btw

1. The tortoise was an illusion so it didn't really need help.
2. Patient, industrious, proud.
3. Nothing. Dogs wouldn't feel cold on a sunny day anyway so there's something off here.
4. Uncomfortable and concerned about my own safety as well as the mother's.
5. Calmly give the rude person a piece of my mind then ask the older gentleman if they need anything.
6. I'm neither security nor police. This also could just be a weird, violent dream.

It seems that all these stories are written by an old grandfather who wants care and attention but has no idea what to say and his family can no longer stand his grumbling, did I guess right? This is an allegory, so he continues to flounder helplessly on his back like a turtle, and feel himself like a street dog, further alienating from his family. Sad, but true for many.

1 if I am walking in a desert at day.. which is the first survival rule to NEVER do. I presume I somehow have been stranded in that desert without shade. that turtle will provide me with moist, meat and most importantly a hat to shelter me from the sun providing some shade.
I turned it so it will cook (as I won't have firewood to prepare it) and to prevent it gettin away while I go look for some rocks to crack it open..

2 caring, helping, serving, humor, intelligence, debating

3 tell the child to go home (a dog that cold while it's a sunny day is suspicious and the dog staring at the child I not like one bit).. I also call the local shelter to come pick up the dog and wait until they arive to make sure the situation remains under control.

4 awkward, uncertain, rejected, concerned

5 I most likely will tell them to leave the old man alone, and have a talk with the old man myself.

6 cause I was the person being murderered

7 a trip down memory lane, with some good, and embarishing and some emotional memories, and than wishing them both to make many good memories together.
