There are good modern games, they are normally smaller indie or AA games.
Modern AAA is almost a complete disaster, with very few companies even worth bothering with anymore.
Exactly, its become like Hollywood in a bad way. A lot of soulless cash grabs. Sure there were bad games in the past, but the good games were amazing and they weren't rare like they are now. Also there's little experimentation now, they want to go for mass appeal rather than make something unique and niche.
