For whisky, the best I've had was Jameson Gold, but it's not made anymore. I tend to prefer the Irish whiskies as they tend to be blended batches, so they can be tailored.
For Irish, I usually go Redbreast or Tullamore Dew. I like Jameson as a cocktail mixer more than a straight spirit.
I replaced booze with a moderate amount of sugar like candy.
I realized that I was craving glucose not booze.
And yes, Jameson is usually good for mixing, but that's why I liked the Gold. It was an exceptional sipping whisky.
I'm hoping Tullamore will be a good substitute.
I'd be interested to know the name! Ninety should buy a decent bottle though.
After years of sticking to poor college student habits, I finally learned that all of the good stuff is aged 12 year or more.
Last trip I took to a Total Wines and More, I stocked up on Grangestone scotch. I remember it being better, but it's still pretty good. Their gimmick is they age it in different types of casks (cognac, sherry, rum, etc).
