Actively being harmful toward? No.
Just leave people alone and don't deny them of their right to be human beings (two guys getting married and calling it marriage doesn't suddenly invalidate my marriage to my wife nor make it any less significant to me). That's all it takes.
You don't have to be a cheerleader. Just don't be a ♥♥♥♥.
be specific.
But, there are degrees to all things. Someone who "disagrees with the gay lifestyle" but does not impose their views over others can be a good person, even if I think they're completely wrong to frame it that way. But someone who incites harm against people over their sexuality or gender identity, that's gonna be very hard to overlook.
My thoughts exactly.
People can't be anti-LGBTQ and claim it doesn't come from a place of hatred. Well, they can claim it's not so, but they're lying 100% of the time.
This is such a low-rent, Charlie-level-rhetoric response.
DADT was still in force when I went to BCT in 2009.
Same-sex marriage was only permitted by law a few years ago.
It doesn't take a wild stretch, given the repeal of Roe v. Wade, or of Whiskeyleaks Kegseth kicking transgender service members out of the military, to imagine those laws being repealed/rolled back in the course of this administration.
Oh, hey, let's talk about the LGBTQ books being yanked from school libraries not because they are prurient/pornographic, but because they introduce homosexuality as if it's just another path through life, rather than a horrifying personal failure.
The right to just be a person, without folks constantly angling to have you treated like a second class citizen because a book they didn't read, written and edited by men hundreds of times over the centuries, makes them think their prejudice is righteous is what's being denied here--and others may be repealed if this situation is permitted to continue.
The "party of small government" having an obsession with other peoples' genitals and what they do with other consenting adults will never not be hypocritical as hell.
Guaranteed, people wouldn't even care about it, if it was not promoted / over-supported.
If you:
- dislike it because you've noticed it tends to affect people badly
- dislike it because the ideology has poisoned pop culture + ruined many movies/games
- dislike it because you can't see it leading to a happy life
- dislike it due to your religious beliefs
- dislike it because you disagree with any part of it
That's perfectly fine.
But physically harming or threatening to harm an individual based on the life choices is obviously something a decent person wouldn't do. But that's it.
If anything, in my opinion you should have pity on a lot of them, many of them will snap out of it and detransition eventually and feel ashamed they joined that circus.
