I prefer Roth in Van Halen, and Hagar's solo material.

Basically 1980-84 was the peak for both.

They had written probably their best stuff with Roth but Hagar is a much better vocalist capable of more range and rasp. Roth had an unmatched stage presence.

I don't think either one really contributed much to writing. Especially Roth since the moment he went solo his career crashed and burned.

I honestly prefer Hagar for his raw talent.
