Why Do People Not Like The Idea Of Tony Montana Surviving The Mansion?

When I asked if people would like to see a movie version of The World is Yours, it was met with a negative reception. What's wrong with Tony surviving and taking revenge on Sosa? Don't people want to see Sosa be put down? Don't they want Tony to live?

Because it's a fitting end. Same with Spike dying in Cowboy Bebop. Same with Walter White in Breaking Bad.

Tony doomed himself the moment he shot Manny. There was no going back after that, it had to happen.
You also forget that Tony was a criminal... drug trafficker, even though wasn't as bad as Sosa, there still wasn't going to be a happy ending.

People dislike it? I don't know, maybe a minority just because he's a "bad guy" and the idea of a bad guy surviving feels wrong to them.

Btw he survives in the Scarface game, the game starts right at the end of the movie.

It was about over the top greed. Person had everything but it wasn't enough, the desk of powder scene was to illustrate that. Too much is not enough.

that is why the director wanted an over the top performance for the over the top character portrayal.

exactly. these types of stories are meant to be cautionary tales. to show that despite the glamour, the power, becoming the type of man tony montana is will always lead to the same place.

if tony survives the end of the film, the lifestyle he lives becomes more glamourous.

Well, I like the game as it is. It would be interesting to see a new take on it, though, more accurate to the movie. Too bad that's never gonna happen, I think.

i dont think so, even if he lived that place was a slaughter house it would be nearly impossible to cover up that many counts of homicide. He'd have to flee to somewhere, go into hiding

if he survived but lost the glamour of his lifestyle because of things such as this, like fleeing and going on the run for the rest of his life, then yes i would be okay with his survival.

but for these stories i feel like they can never end happy, or it is sending the wrong message.

I disliked the end, but not because I liked Tony or wanted him to win. I just thought it was goofy. (Due to my own misconceptions about the film going in, I admit, but still.)
