For client-side, Xaero's minimap and world map are well-regarded, but maybe cheapen things by being a radar that detects everything around you, including nearby enemies, and letting you see structures on the other side of the chunk. You might prefer something simpler that only displays onscreen coordinates and local light level and setting waypoint bookmarks.
