Panama announces exit from China's Belt and Road initiative (BRICs)

Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested in a meeting with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino on Sunday that the administration of President Donald Trump may move to seize the Panama Canal on the grounds that the Panamanian government has violated the agreement that gives the country control over the waterway.

The OP is confusing BRI with BRICS. Italy also withdrawn from BRI under US pressure last year.

We should! They've been allowing a passive war against us for decades. Take Panama and put the wall on that much shorter border.

BRICs and BRI are the same type of trade program with different membership. They are both about increasing China's economic footprint.

Not exactly the same. One is a trade bloc the other is a strategic program. BRIC (originally without South Africa) was coined by Goldman Sachs in 2001 referring to the 4 biggest emerging economies, it's not just about China.

But it really is not. If it is, then BRICS is no different than the G7 where one country calls all the shots. BRICS pushes for multipolar.
