Is Mario Kart the worst racing game ever?

I've heard it often said that its a masochist's dream, but this ludicrous s**t right here, has happened to me way too often:

Its not just unbalanced, I sometimes feel like its designed that way if you or your opponents are lagging. Projectiles just seem to come the f**k outta nowhere.

No matter what strategies you use, you will get screwed sooner or later in a race. Especially if some creep and their 2nd player helper is targeting you, and only you for the cardinal sin of beating them once.

I get excited when I play F-ZERO (a franchise Nintendo refuses to acknowledge or give a worthy sequel to following the masterful GX which is now over 20 years old) but I get nothing but stressed when I play Mario Kart online.

I can confirm this. There are even some fans in OT who got offended when I said the game was a dud.

Beneath its colorful appeal and diverse range of delightful characters lies an insidious EVIL monster. Its a f**king Capitalism Simulator, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Big f**ks in front keep taking all the coins leaving me with nothing, no items, no kart speed.

Dude it's just Mario Cart. It's not that deep.
Personally, I've always been a fan of Mario cart 7(Yes, I know I'm weird).
I do see what you mean though. Mario Cart 8 is incredibly fun, but sometimes a bit much.

The only issue with mario cart is the rubber banding it does, as a result you will always have someone right on your butt if your in first place.

my least favourites are probably the ones i have not played, like 7 and DS. but of the ones i have played i have a hot take, mario kart 64 is my least favourite. the music is great, but compared to the likes of mario kart snes, double dash, wii and 8, it is probably just being my least favourite overall.

You seem to have similar tastes to mine in terms of racing

What about the Mario kart double dash I believe the title was called? You could have another player racing with you who could hit double boosts if both timed it perfectly?

That felt more skill based than any of the other Mario kart titles....and it was fairly thrilling but not nearly as amazing as fzero gx, that blew my socks off it was incredible

double dash is great, sadly is often being considered one of the "worst" titles because some felt the two racers per kart was gimmicky. but i think opinions of it are improving, in modern times. which is good because double dash is one of my favourites in the series for sure.

i thought it was kinda a pioneer game, first race game with multiple players, 4 cars with different driving characteristics. before mario cart every race car in every race game went exactly the same speed until you run into a wall

Don't know. I loved Super Mario Kart on the SNES (particularly battle mode.) It was super fun.

But the N64 version I didn't like at all, despite its popularity, and I haven't played another one since.
