I actually read the book about the horsemen, and I think the guy must have been high as a kite when he wrote that. Because there is not much logic, sense or reason to this story. It's just chaotic rambling from a crazy person who didn't even knew that the Earth was round.
Nothing of value can be found there. Or maybe I am just not getting it?

Religious texts, whether Christian or otherwise, aren't supposed to sound logical. It's all symbolism, some kind of code to be cracked.

A code cannot be "cracked," because it's not a physical thing. It literally cannot be cracked.
I think you're confusing yourself by looking into these religious texts. Not to mention that trying to relate those stories, that are supposedly prophecies, to people that you think you know from the television the internet or newspaper, is illogical.

I honestly think that comparing living breathing human beings with the harbingers of the apocalypse is a disturbing thought. What would they even think if they read that? It's not as if those people have died and that you can just talk about those people in public without feeling responsible for their emotional well-being.

Those people probably have a very difficult time doing those jobs. They were all chosen by their people who all expect miracles, and they're probably all trying to do the best they can for their people.
