more tv/movie sins
cliff hangers

characters turn evil for no reason

too many sub plots

a single sub plot forced in
hero inside, a cartoon of comic super heros, oh btw six kids went missing... why? who knows
not explained, it was added in for no reason

the super late useless villain. ghost busters frozen empire
the big bad is missing for most of the film and instead we get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laser pointer that causes more chaos, he mistakes a shop owner for a flame master but denies the real flame master..
there was no frozen empire and the final battle was disappointing

beetle juice
the ex-wife comes back for revenge and shes just wasting time

beauty and the beast: Christmas is just filler, plus the confusion of time spent there

my biggest complaint in storytelling, no matter the medium, is poor pacing. this is a very, very common issue, especially in more short form media like films. it is just being difficult to tell a well paced story in a few hours time, so that is why i am preferring when films go all out with the visuals, practical effects, costumes or symbolic imagery.

the best stories i have encountered are almost always being from novels, because they allow the readers the freedom to visualise themselves, and can be as long as the author is wanting them to be so pacing is usually fully within their control. though there are exceptions to this

horror films, my favourite genre, are generally being more reliants on imagery, viewer emotional responses, themes and symbolism rather than the actual plot. the plots themselves in horror films are usually being simple, which to me is perfect for a film format when you are having not much times to tell a story.
