It blocks some of the blue light. In that sense it's not a scam.

I suppose one could scam people by not putting the amber or yellow tint in the lenses.
How one could sleep at night after doing such a thing I do not know!
yes, I meant about the sleep thing and reducing eye stress after being many hours on the computer
It does help a bit with eye stress but it's better to take a break from the screen altogether.
Also, consider high refresh rates to reduce strain.

You could also use a sepia filter for the monitor (I do both sepia and glasses, except when watching a movie)

No, but I do have all of my screens set to Night Light mode, which reduced the blue tint.

As someone who spends too much time in front of a screen, I have to throw everything at it.
The only silver bullet is walking away.

D'you mean the glasses for reducing eye strain on computer screens ? Yeah, i have one pair, and yeah, it eats a bit of the blue color if it's that what you meant. Does it work ? Dunno, was already a screen junkie long ago, and bought them because my eyesight was getting worse - basically bought them too late ^^'
don't leds put off all spectrums of light, despite their main frequency only emitting one wavelength?

if so then sepia toning wouldn't work. you'd need glassses with a pigment or a structure which actually absorbs the blue wavelength.

honestly, given the effects on color, you'd be better off with sunglasses right? or does their polarization only block half of the blue wavelengths?

Not really. Otherwise color calibration and accuracy verification of computer monitors wouldn't be a thing.

LED screens definitely emit in some spectrums more than others. Turning down the blue will affect the wavelengths generated.

Many programmers and artists I know actually prefer to work in a somewhat dim-lit environment. Opposed to studies claiming a well-lit workspace is better.

I also think that the more bright the screen or the lighter the environment, the more painful it is to look at.
I also eat a lot of eye friendly foods to help slow the degradation of my poor little eyeballs.
Carrots, baby spinach, blueberries, sweet potatoes. Get off the doritos and soda, it's hell on your eyes.
Kind of annoying tint no idea if works prob does
