A classic that is often forgotten, since it had the misfortune of being released around the same time as Doom. They took the Wolfenstein engine and pushed the boundaries of it's capabilities.
UK company, presumably British character. Ignore the US helmet.
conker and rare (the company) are both british yes, and while there are elements of spies and warfare it is not really being of such a genre overall. great game though, hilarious and fun
Empire Total War - Mainly generic line infantry, but has a couple of historic named regiments available.

The protagonist, Michael Sykes, callsign Psycho, is British, but I don't remember if he is in USA unit or some international USA<->UK task force.
