Ubisoft has 18,666 employees. Valve has 336.
And those Valve employees are spread across game development (181), hardware (41), and Steam (79). Yes, believe or not, the largest gaming marketplace in the world is managed by just 79 people.

Can anyone explain what all those folks at Ubisoft are doing? Might be one of the reasons why the company is currently preparing for bankruptcy.

And yet Valve won't improve support

They have improved support significantly.
It used to be very barebone and much more automated. The forum moderation was done by actual users, whom hunted down and banned people they disliked.

These roles are now outsources and is much more professional. They obviously do not count towards Valve´s own staff numbers, nor do all the staff that work on their games, where lots are outsources as well.

As for Ubisoft.
They have over 50 subsidiaries, where some of them own their own subsidiaries.
They are a big corporation after all.

So if you think about it, each of these studios (on avarage) is around Valve´s size.

At least Ubisoft are developing sequels of their games which Valve sadly doesn’t feel the need for anymore.
Can't say I agree on that. Valve is heavily overrated as dev. Did some tech demos and bought up IPs.

I liked CS 1.6 and the Portal games, though.

Basically what I'm saying.

Valve also seems to no longer be interested in developing their own source engine any further to compete with UE and give developers more choice, and rather fully rely on their platform Steam. Deadlock is something new, but the game is boring as hell.

There were an interview of Marc-Alexis Côté (AC's executive producer) explaining that half the team creating the nex AC never programmed a game in their life.

Getting rid of qualified devs in favor of DEI isn't the smartest thing to do.

Epic Games has 4,500 employees.

How's their store support been lately?

Got game reviews yet?

They're venturing into markets with SteamOS now, seem to go for the PC handheld market. They simply make other choices.

Companies change, part of the world and life. Which is fine.

I wouldn't mind if they'd put more focus on Steam to come with improvements to the service, though.

They're fun. To be fair, the last one I played was Odyssey, but I generally enjoy them.
