How long should one wait after a breakup until they text their ex a really funny meme?
It's really relatable and funny, but I don't want things to be awkward since the breakup is pretty fresh

Uh yeah, people overlook that or downplay it as just some social strategy that you can choose to ignore - no, if they said that they don't want to hear from you and you go messaging them, you could literally wind up with criminal harassment charges.

Now, if they didn't say that they don't want to speak from or hear from you or be contacted anymore, then I don't see this as a problem - you're only dealing with emotional sensitivities at that point - not emotional sensitivities PLUS ..THE LAW!

depends on your rela- friendship with them

We're still pretty close friends, it's just we weren't quite fit to be together

sounds exactly like my relationship with my 2 exes, we 3 still talk like we are best friends, good enough I'll say
Why the hell are you still in contact? Move on, delete them everywhere, and be an adult. Keeping them around creates baggage for future relationships.

unless you're exes with benefits or it was a mutual breakup/on friendly terms, send it to someone else instead uwu

not everyone is a drop off, if they were toxic then sure but if friendly it is a huge waste

The day after then you block them and move on with your lives

Luckily it wasn't that toxic or anything, we're still friends

It was pretty mutual, the relationship was a little disengaged towards the end anyway, so the transition between dating and friendship wasn't that difficult

Well I kinda like having friends, and they happen to be one of them

Make new friends. Any future partner is going to dread you having exes around. It shows immaturity and the inability to commit (commit to breaking things off is just the same)

Seems toxic, like dwelling in the past

Well I'm not dwelling on then as a partner anymore, they're just a friend now.
depends how the breakup is..

but in my experience there are two ways..

1 the hard cut.. -> they cut you off imediately.. as in they just never want to see or speak you ever again.

2 the slow death -> they say lets stay friends.. which for a while works.. but the contact slowly bleeds to 0 (gaps between seeing and speaking eachother get larger, and the moments you do speak/see eachother get more superficial... until the moment one of the two finds somebody new.. and thats usually when the contact decreases to fully 0 anyway cause "it's awkward to still see eachother.

so one way or another they will disapear out of your life completely...

than again I was never the one who cut off the relation or contact.

A friend you once banged nevertheless

Well our relationship never got that far. Our relationship really didn't last that long, our friendship has been longer than our relationship lasted, and we haven't even been friends for that long
