PS 4 or PS 5 controller?
Looking to upgrade from my PS 4 controller to PS 5 for my PC. Do you think PS 5 controller is better in terms of not breaking?

Apparently the haptic feedback thing tend to break.
The DS5 definitely feels a lot sturdier and better built, but I haven't had either controller break on me yet.
You can't go wrong with either, it just depends which feels more comfortable to hold (DS5 is a bit more chunky while the DS4 is more lean)

They solved stick drift problem years ago and Sony won't implement it to sell more controllers. How come ESG scores never count for anything that actually matters? That very unfriendly to the environment. All those broken controllers piling up
GameCube controller.

ps4 uses a dualshock 4 (ds4), ps5 uses dual sense (not ds5)
/nitpick

get a dualsense, works natively with windows, and the trigger haptics are a nice to have
and dualsense vib motors are linear not rotary, each can shake at any freq or strength, if you are into that kind of thing

Had 2 Dualsense have Stick drift. 1st was after 6 months and that got replaced with a brand new controller that developed stick drift within 3 months. My brother had sick drift by his 5th month. Had 2 DS4 controller for 8 years and beside battery capacity not 100%, expected, both are working fine and both been used a hell of a lot more

They are about the same. Both can break but ebay is full of parts. Stick drift is relatively easy to fix on both if it happens. I had a stick drift and teared actuation rubbers under buttons on ps4 controller. I fixed it myself following YT guides. Battery replacement is trash on both and can’t be realistically fixed - Chinese batteries are uber trash.

The biggest difference is USB - C on ps5 vs micro usb on ps4. That micro usb is flimsy, doesn’t hold a cable and is quickly getting worse. This port alone makes ps5 controller a much more durable choice in my opinion. Built in battery will die relatively quickly and you may be forced to play wired.

Have magnetic tips in mine so it's just a case of moving a magnetic cable close enough for it to snap into place. Tips in all of the wireless devices, that's all controllers, Keyboards, Mice, Headsets, Headphones, Phones and Tablets in my home
