Stoicism, chuds, and the modern man...
"We are so over"

*some time later*

"We are so back"

Such is the cycle and duality of man, stuck in a seemingly endless trance, one that alternates between two primordial states. The state of defeat, and the state of victory, one that cries out in failure, an alienated level of dismay in oneself. The other, a vantage point that bellows with sanguine in reflection of recent events (that led to the prior state), one that is optimistic, and that fills the soul with buoyant nature.

In such times, one must turn to stoicism, a school of hellenistic philosophy, one that encourages you to focus on what you can control, and accept what you cannot. Through the practice of such virtues, particularly through hardships, one develops the inner strength needed to break the cycle, as they receive the same level of joy from "we are so back" while not wasting their time on frivolous things outside of their control that cause the stage of "we are so over", and thus has ascended, to a new, stoic level.

A stoic level, of self-improvement, taking control of life, and simply put, getting your act together to the best of your abilities, ignoring the rest, frivolous things not worthy of your time.

I wish to see you in three years from now, as an absolute Greek god...

OR

You could become a complete chud.

C.H.U.D. initially received poor to average reviews, but quickly gained a cult following, resulting in a greater awareness of the film, and repeated references in better known media such as The Simpsons, Futurama, etc etc.

Anyways, like any other form of media, once it gains a certain status of being well known, like any other form, certain phrases and terms enter mainstream culture.

Other, well known examples of this effect include "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." Or "We're gonna need a bigger boat."

On a side note, similar examples not dealing with films can be found the generalization of products, such as Velcro, Tupperware, and Band-Aid, becoming generic terms for a certain type of product, even though these were initially copyrighted brands.
