Greenland is not just the island but has maritime borders to Canada, Norway, Iceland and the Arctic. So its not just the land but all the resources around greenland in the Atlantic Ocean.

- Fish, lots of it. In a over-fished world this is worth a lot
- Whales - well we dont hunt whales anymore but its still worth something
- Oil
- Gas
- Uranium
- Coal
- Gold
- Silver
- Rare Elements
- Marble

Well if I was Danish, I'd require the US army for a minimum of a decade. Why stop at the Kalmar Union, when you reclaim the whole North Sea Empire at America's expense.

Greenland 'seems' to want to join the US - if everyone on greenland wants to join it - I don't see a problem with that.

If Denmark is the only factor on that - well they can go to war with the US.

If greenland didn't want to join, different story.
