some think that when we die we must go into the light
some think that when we die we must not go into the light
some think that to go into the light restarts the cycle of rebirth on Terra and you are 'stuck again'
some think that to go into the light liberates you from the cycle of rebirth and you are 'freed'

where will you go when you die?

When I lived in Thailand, its 98% Buddhist, my Thai girlfriend would always talk about being reincarnated. I have Christian and Muslim friends and they believe in their version of an afterlife. Add the Hindus into the mix as well. I talk with a doctor who is a Hindu. He has pictures of his Gods inside his car.

I'm an atheist. I do get it. Death is very scary for most people. Heaven. Hell. Non-existence. Annihilation. Rebirths. Good and bad. All theories proposed because death is the final frontier. But the reason I am an atheist is because none of what I mentioned has ever been proven. And no, NDE's are not convincing. They vary too wildly with each religious belief. Hindus will have Hindu NDEs. Muslims will have Muslim NDEs. Christians, and depending on the Christian denomination, will have their own version of NDEs. Ex. Catholics will see Mary. Protestants do not have this experience. What gets lost in the discussion are the many people who have been near death, and who have experienced NOTHING! Also, the brain is still very active, so there is that.

I have had surgery before. And if you've ever been put under you can relate to this. You do not remember anything. Its not even darkness. Darkness is a sensation. You aren't aware. Its nothing. And my guess is that is our fate, and I'm OK with that. I don't want to live for trillion and trillion and trillion of years anyway.

Do you remember being born?

What if you just start living life of a 20s something with all their memory up to that point.
Would it be possible for you to figure out that you only started living the life from 20s onwards if you also get all memory from past 20 years?

do you mean soul taking place of someone living in alternate timeline? how would that work
