They do this by appealing to trend as wells as tech.
Microsoft has tried this a few times and so has Android but they can't ever out-style apple and so it just comes off badly.
Same reason why a leather handbag is able to be sold for $10k+ just because of some letters.
The price doesn't really make sense anyway since everything is made by slave labor in China(and nearby regions).
But they'd just roll their eyes because they have the best iphone and you probably don't.
But you gotta switch it every few years because average joe are not professionals to open the sealed phone case (potentially obliterating it). You are pretty much forced to get a new one. Pricey.

Simple lines and color is exactly what the Iphone does so well.
PS. I own a galaxy s10 and a Linux Pinephone. I'm not an apple shill or anything.
Well then you probably be fine.
But I googled it once and most of the affluent people seem to all use Iphones.
Couldn't tell you why.
