How much time do I need between flights?

Hi. I am going to travel, and I need to change flight at airport.
How much time do I need between the flights?
I heard 2 hours is enough, and some people say they also wait if you travel with same company.
Is this true?

I rather non-stop, or a delayed fueling than a change of flight, especially changing company but it depends on the airport and possibly country as well so I will say at least 2-3 hours just to be safe (more if you travel light and like to see local attractions, if applicable).

Even with connecting flights I'm never late even if the plane is on the other side of the terminal.

I just came back from California and the moment I landed on Salt Lake City it was a 2 hour wait for my next plane. I had time to use the bathroom, eat, shop, use the bathroom again, and still made it on time.

I hope so. It is a small airport.
There is an earlier flight, but then I have to wait almost 7 hours, and I think that's a lot.

Depends on how far apart the gates are. You can cut as close at 30 minutes before boarding time if the flights are in the same terminal and the first flight is on time. However, that leaves no margin for error. 2 hours should be more than enough time.
