The problem isn't the west
It's capitalism in general. Even Adam Smith, the father of Capitalism, warned that it must be reigned in.

We let it reign free, and now it's eating everyone.

Can we get all sides to at least agree to that?

HA! My sides!

Capitalism is the great equalizer.
Winners and losers are guaranteed with more winning than losing, and sometimes people switching between the two.
In all other systems there's very few extreme winners(if at all) and most are somewhat struggling to keep going, or worse.

Have you read Adam Smith? The Wealth of Nations? The book this whole thing is based on?

What did he say about corruption, monopolies and government (the masters of mankind he called them)? He said something, what was it?

Smith also believed no corporation would ever do anything scummy, corrupt, or against the public interest, because they'd be too afraid of God punishing them. The whole idea is based on a false premise.

But if we could get enough people to agree to that, we wouldn't be in the laughable circus we are now

His 'Invisible Hand' policy.

Sorry Smith. Looks like God is all hands-off these days.

I'll say it, there is such a thing as having too much money. No one needs billions, other than the government. :/

Bro you said you were a person that didn't support free housing, healthcare, and food for the homeless cause i misjudged you. Now you are sitting here saying capitalism bad...

Square that circle for me. How should an economy/society work?

Roflmao. Capitalism which has developed, built, and sold everything he owns. Soooo awful to have to live in a place where luxuries are consistently made affordable through innovation created with the incentive of success. How awful you life must be to not work slave wages in a sweat shop until you die like a proper Anti capitalist country.

Nobody needs half the ♥♥♥♥ they own. But that's the great thing about this country, what a few radical ideologues feel others need or don't need has no bearing on them. People are able to pursue desires, while lesser places are struggling with needs.

So, I take it you agreed with me? If not, then why did you say that people don't need half the stuff they have?

EDIT: Typo.

Other than the coin-op machines money wasn't even used.
And StarTrek used credits instead of money.

But I'm not giving up my coins. If I get over 100 it grans me an extra life anyway.

I tell my wife all the time that I have enough nice things for four or five guys, so does my wife. We intentionally do not purchase more "stuff".

Kids. Read.

Did I say Capitalism is bad? No. I did not. I said, as the Father of Capitalism himself said, it must be tempered and controlled. It cannot be permitted to consume the people it is suppose to support.

Have you kids really not HAD to read WEALTH OF NATIONS? Is it no longer MANDATORY to graduate?
wtf
