Home. Theatres always attract a small number of people who want to be obnoxious and want to ruin the movie going experience for everyone else.
I don't like movie theatres, for these reasons:

1) The sound there is too loud and hurts my ears' membranes. I do like deep bass, but for me there's overkill in theatres.

2) You can't pause the film and return later.

3) You have to compulsory watch up to 30 minutes of advertising before the film itself starts at last.

4) Except for special cinemas that are rare, you can't watch the film in a language you want. Or the combination of the voice language and subtitles that you want.

First of all, the nearest theater is fifty miles away, and 2nd, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate going outside!

For me leaving the house is about as pleasant as being sodomized with a cattle prod.

I will admit, watching a movie in a theatre is nice... especially a comedyblockbuster. Something about the social affirmation/whatever. That said... I haven't been to a theatre for years (plus modern comedies just aren't funny to me). The utility of pausing when I want is simply too awesome to disregard. Cat needs some attention mid-movie? No problem. Too many sodas/etc? Easy-peasy.

I have a full 5.1 sound system, especially a powered sub. My screen's not that great. It's literally the smallest samsung fIat screen could find at Walmart a few years ago. But I've got it on a mount, on the wall... like 3/4 of the way up the wall. So my 'perceived' size is fairly large, plus tilting your head back to watch stuff is healthy and helps make it more theatrical.

home, always. so i can be lounging, pausing whenever i wish, and snuggling with my cats while i watch.
Movie theater is great with friends. Home is best alone or a couple.

But home has the disadvantages of lacking the fun of sneaking food and drinks in. Also the theater employees might have funny uniforms and hats they have to wear which add to the atmosphere. The theater might also have cool things to look at like huge posters or figures of actors.
Home.

And popcorn 🍿 gets delivered from theatre for movie nights.
